
This January 28 took place the most important event of the Luis A. Noboa Naranjo Museum, the First International Photography Competition Álvaro Noboa Pontón, where more than 200 photographers from the five continents participated for the first place.
Patricio Ruilova (Ecuador), Leonardo Ampuero (Chile), Harold Ferrer (Cuba), Begoña Lozano (Spain), Sergei Reboredo (Spain) and Corneliu Tofan (Romania) were the six semifinalists selected.
They disputed the first place of $ 3,000, won by the Spanish Begoña Lozano Mejuto with the picture named “Semana de Santa Loja (Cofrades de Nuestra Señora de la Esperanza).” The winner, who commented that she likes to catch the glances of people in her photos, said that this is the first time she wins an international competition and the taste for this art is owed to her husband.
Following her, the $ 2,000 prize was for the Cuban Harold Ferrer Pérez with his photographic piece “S / T.” While the third place, of $ 1,000, was for the artwork “La primera faena del 2015,” of the Ecuadorian Edson Ruilova Litume.
At the event, which started at about 19h30 and was led by Álvaro Noboa Pontón, Honorable Mentions were granted to Leonardo Ampuero with his picture “Acuarela,” Corneliu Tofan with “Genesi,” and Sergi Reboredo with “Memorias de África.” Additionally, the “Best Ancient Photography ” category was instituted with a $ 1000 prize, which was granted to the Ecuadorian Gina Garcia and herphoto “Transporte Urbano 1956.”
