Collective Exhibition in honor of Rene Bohorquez Anton

On thursday June 28, before the presence of several renown painters, participants and winners of past International Biennials of Painting, the Director of the Luis A. Noboa Naranjo Museum, founded by lawyer Alvaro Noboa Ponton, lawyer Pablo Martinez, welcomed to visit the exhibition in honor of Rene Bohorquez, winner of the third edition of the Biennial.

“He is an example and an excellent painter, at only 19 and before a demanding jury, he participated in the Biennial and obtained the first place with his peculiar work which reflected an artistic technique not seen since the Renaissance era and that adds strength and personality to the piece”, assured the director, who was beside Bohorquez and his mother, Adela Anton.

“I wanted to thank you all for coming, I have brought some other works that I specially prepared for this occasion”, said Bohorquez, who told a little about his experience.

“Some areas of the painting ‘woman incarnated’ are painted with a spatula and bristle brushes along with a considerable amount of oil. It is a piece that was born by the need to represent an experience”, explained the young artist.

“I was inspired in the painting “The Slaughtered Ox” by Rembrandt, to which I wanted to pay tribute. The painting, I have to admit, is very innocent, and I was interested in representing the subtlety and carnality. Now, my work has changed a lot, more than anything, in the way of conceiving the art piece”, he added.
